[Disassembly] Nerf - Elite Spectre

This is one of my guilty pleasure blasters. It's performance is sub par and it only has a 5 dart capacity. There is just something about the aesthetic that I like. The new Accustrike Alphahawk is very similar internally, though there are some differences. For instance, the Spectre rotates as you prime the blaster, whereas the Alphahawk rotates after firing when the trigger is released. The Alphahawk has a very differently designed sled assembly, and catch assembly as well.

So to those who keep calling the Alphahawk a reshelled Spectre, that's not entirely correct.

Enough rambling, on to the disassembly of the Nerf Elite Spectre.

[Disassembly] Nerf - Accustrike Alphahawk

This is a very recent blaster that I just happened to find randomly sitting alone on a shelf at Toys"R"Us, so I bought it. It's not the best performing blaster, but in my opinion it is one of, if not the most comfortable blaster out there.

The turret is supposed to rotate after firing, once the trigger is pulled. This is where mine had some issues. Roughly once every 5 or 6 shots, it wouldn't rotate. Instead it would make a loud bang as if it had no air restrictors. I attributed this to the rotation mech possibly skipping out of its grooves. I took the blaster apart about 5 times trying to figure out the problem only for the blaster to start working normally. I guess it must have been something out of alignment, though I'm not sure what.

In my experiments trying to solve the problem I found out something. Do not remove the small 'finger' that holds the turret in place until you release the trigger. If you do, the turret will start to rotate as soon as the blaster fires which caused many of my darts to veer left, and in some cases shot out completely sideways without going down the barrel.

Without further ado, on to the disassembly of the Nerf Accustrike Alphahawk.

This blaster is a few years old but considering it's my favourite I'm going to start this blog with a disassembly of the Nerf Elite Firestrike.

Remove all 8 screws. 7 on the left hand side of the shell, and one in the grip that holds the batteries.

Where to start..

My plan for this blog is to document the modifications I plan to do to my foam blasters, as well as reviews and disassembly/reassembly information.

Initial updates may be slow as I prepare my work space. I have many projects that I want to create, and hopefully they will all be shown here as they proceed and ultimately finish (if any project is really ever finished).

From last check, in my "Build one day" excel spreadsheet I have quite literally hundreds of ideas/projects that I plan to make ranging from combinations (ie. Strayven) to remotely fired blasters, and even automatic blasters that will fire based on motion/sound/light without user input.
